Project Estimator
Job Overview & Qualifications

Project estimators work full-time in the office. The position is salaried with health, dental, paid vacation and 401k match. Hours are generally Monday through Friday, 7:00A-4:00P, however start and end times are flexible. Work weeks in excess of 40 hours should be expected during times of heavy estimating workload. While work/life balance is something that we stress at Universal Electric, the cyclical nature of the industry requires flexibility in scheduling. Qualified candidates must be agreeable to extended schedules and occasional weekend work during times of high demand, most often occurring in the months of March, April and May. A well-suited candidate has the following qualifications:

• 1+ years experience in estimating projects in all market segments is required.
• Experience estimating additional aspects of the industry (i.e. medium voltage, highway/traffic signaling, technology, etc.) is a plus.
• Proficiency in ConEst Intellibid and Surecount is a plus. However, we are willing to send the right candidate to the necessary training.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft SharePoint platform is a plus.
• Experience in Filed Sub-bid procedures and prequalification processes is a plus

Universal Electric is looking for an Estimator to bring a positive outlook, strong work ethic and desire for continual self-improvement to facilitate continued growth of the company. The qualified candidate will be capable of stepping in and contributing to all aspects of the estimating and budgeting processes. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

• Maintaining relationships with long time clients and building new ones with prospective clients
• Refining and maintaining ConEst database, including custom templates, assemblies and items within the database
• Completing detailed documents reviews, takeoff, soliciting quotes, compiling bid documents for both public and private projects in institutional, healthcare, commercial, industrial, multi-residential and large-scale renewables markets
• Analyze bid data to identify outliers and make corrections prior to manager review
• Compiling quick budgets and quick pricing based on historical data
• Effectively communicating deficiencies, status updates, etc. with senior estimating staff and upper management
• Maintain a system of tracking historical bid data
